I have an antique cherry cabinet that is at least three times my age. The door has a slight twist to it, and it keeps opening itself. The door catches of yesteryear had a metal prong that pushed two rollers apart. This catch pre-dates that, it's all about springy metal that bows out of the way. And this is the sound it makes when you close it.

I opened the woodstove door while recording with a zoom h1 n. So the first thing you hear is the door opening, and then the latch falling down. The fire had just been lit. It is starting to ignite the douglas fir wood slowly but surely, and you can hear the kindling crackling.

I noticed one night my broken metallic glass screen door was making quite a ruckus in the wind. I grabbed my zoom h1 and a roll of duct tape and taped it to the interior portion of the door. I recorded the sound of my wooden, squeaky screen door opening and then bouncing shut with a couple bangs. You can hear the squeak of the hinges as the door is opened, then again as it starts to close. The stretching and retraction of the spring is slightly noticeable. The door bounces a couple times as it closes, and you can also hear the latch rattling at this time. Recorded with audacity on my computer using a cheap, hand-held piezo mic.
